Different Types of Employment

This Module focuses on educating recruiters about the four main types of employment relationships relevant to recruitment agencies, specifically within the Australian context. It highlights that local laws may differ and underscores the importance of understanding employment definitions in one's own region. The key types of employment discussed include temporary or casual employment characterized by short-term, intermittent engagements where workers submit timesheets and are typically known as gig workers. It also covers contract employment, which involves fixed-term arrangements with an end date, where the worker becomes an employee of the hiring company. Permanent employment features the traditional staff member paid directly by the employer without a defined end date, accruing benefits like annual leave. Lastly, it discusses independent contractors who operate under their own business identity, negotiating terms and responsible for their own taxes and insurance. This Module advises recruiters to seek legal guidance to ensure compliance with specific local regulations.
